Norman Miller, a prominent local educator and clarinetist with the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra passed away in 2001. The Norman Miller Memorial Music Scholarship was founded in 2002 by the San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra, friends and family to aid young musicians in their study of music. The scholarship is open to high school, college and university woodwind, brass and percussion players and is awarded through an audition process.
The 2012 scholarship is open to high school woodwind, brass and percussion players. Applicants should be high school students who plan to study music at the collegiate level. Applicants should have an interest in music studies in San Luis Obispo County.

The Scholarship amount is $600.

Applications (including the 'Statement of Experiences and Goals') must be received on or before Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Live Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012.

Results will be announced on or before Saturday, March 24, 2012.
- Presentation of the scholarship will take place at the Season Finale Concert on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The scholarship recipient will be expected to attend the concert.
